Some thoughts on the value of global communication
The following was the welcome message I wrote upon combining my various personal blogs into one site at http://Yoel.Ben-Avraham.info
Over the years, in addition to the many blogs I’ve created and maintained on behalf of others within the framework of my work with ePublicist and Net-Presence, I’ve also blogged more personal material. At one point I had several separate blogs, my virtual soapbox’s in the Hyde Park of the virtual world we call the Internet.
- “Letters from Shilo” for more personal “correspondence” style submissions.
- “Second Thoughts” was a blog dedicated to heavier essay style material, and more reflective articles that attempted to come to some understanding of the events I’ve experienced and the things I’ve done.
As I stand now on the eve of my sixtieth birthday, I decided to combine everything in one site. Using categories to organize everything, you can still read my “letters” or read my more philosophic/political “second thoughts”. Whatever you choose to read, please share your response with me and other readers. If you encounter anything you feel others might find of interest, please share! Simply click on the buttons at the bottom of any article and voila, your Facebook or other social media sites will have a link back to the article you want others to know about!
As a pioneer on public Internet (I registered my first Internet company two months after the Internet as we know it was opened to the public in September 1994), I’ve enjoyed watching this powerful tool build what is rapidly becoming a real “global village”. Yes there is hatred & bigotry. There is in any village. And like any village I can only hope that the insightful and thoughtful will share with their neighbours, counter balancing the hatred stemming from ignorance and vindictiveness. My meager contributions are made in that spirit. I encourage each of you to think about it and realize that every day that goes by and you do not express your support of sane proper ideas and your abhorrence of racism, bigotry and mean spiritedness, you are letting the evil minority poison the well of human understanding.
So – if you can’t write, at least comment.
If you have noting to say in a comment, share with your friends and family to increase the circle of influence.
If you can’t bring yourself to that, at least click on the Like-Not-Like buttons and vote on what makes sense to you and what doesn’t.
Its our world and all of us can make it a better, saner, healthier place – one blog post at a time!
Looking forward to your feedback!
Yoel Ben-Avraham
